Richards Sales
3 octaves of Warner bells for restoration.
Details:
For sale is a set of 37 mainly Warner bells, chromatic from 22C to 1C, thought to be 20th century in the years before WW1. Four of the bells were cast from William Dunn patterns, but not by Dunn himself (pre-1852). Originally they were a 'tapping' set with caps and handles, but no clappers. Unlike earlier Warner bells, which were made from castings one size too small, these bells are mostly the correct size (all have size numbers on top).
Many of the handles have been replaced, but all the caps and handles need replacing. 23 of the middle bells have been fitted with home-made clappers, but all of these will also need replacing. The tuning ranges from slightly flat to slightly sharp - a table giving detailed tunings is available on request. None of the bells appear to be cracked.
The bells can be viewed near Wallingford, Oxfordshire, and will need to be collected from there.
The photograph shows 21 of the middle bells with clappers.
Asking price £2500 or very near offer.
